Every piece of Zespri Kiwifruit receives a Zespri fruit label. This label helps consumers identify our fruit and serves as a gurantee of high quality and consistently great taste. Our Zespri fruit labels contain EAN8 barcodes with a different barcode for each of the size profiles.
All fruit labels applied to our conventional fruit are 100% recyclable and labels applied to organic fruit are 100% compostable.
Every tray of New Zealand Zespri Kiwifruit has a unique EAN label for traceability. The EAN number provides a link back to the orchard where the fruits were originally grown. The pallet label also provides useful information on the content of the pack (eg – variety, fruit count fruit size, ...etc).
All Zespri packaging and labels, including adhesives and inks meet EU and USFDA regulations for either direct or indirect food contact. Only Zespri approved suppliers are used for the packing of our fruit. Proof of supplier compliance with food safety regulations is also verified on an annual basis.
If you are transferring to your own packaging, proof of compliance with the relevant regulations for your market should be obtained, and acceptable standards for graphics used as per the Zespri Brand Guidelines. A check of the documentation received for any packaging components should be referred to your local Zespri representative for a confirmation of compliance.
